What is a Biblical Man? Part 1

by Dale Partridge

Welcome to our two-part series on biblical manhood. We have also completed a two-part series on biblical womanhood that you can view here.

Manhood is being attacked on two major fronts in our culture. First, feminism is seeking to eliminate all distinctions and authority of men, husbands, and fathers. “Women can do everything that men can do” they shout. But, as we will discuss, just because they can do what men do doesn’t mean that they should do what men do.

The second front is through the gross lack of training and discipleship offered to boys in our culture and church. In this episode, Veronica and I discuss the landscape of the gender war and what the Bible says regarding manhood.

Scriptures Referenced

  • 1 Tim 3:2-7: ” Therefore an elder must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.”
