What is a Biblical Man? Part 2

by Dale Partridge

Welcome to episode #2 of our two-part series on biblical manhood. You can listen or watch part #1 of this series here. Additionally, we have completed a complementing two-part series for the women titled What is a Biblical Woman?

In this episode, Veronica and I unpack a handful of scriptures directed toward the men and discuss what the Bible requires of men as they lead, provide, and protect their families.

Scriptures Referenced

  • 1 Corinthians 16:13-14: “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”
  • 1 Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.”
  • 1 Timothy 6:6-12: “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
  • James 1:22: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
  • Ephesians 5:25-28 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.”
  • 1 Peter 3:1-2: “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.”

Bottom line, this topic is critical and requires maturity and boldness to navigate God’s massive call on manhood. After watching or listening to this episode, what is your opinion?
