Romans 1:18-23: The Evidence for God in Creation

by Dale Partridge

Scripture teaches that God has revealed Himself in two ways: General Revelation and Special Revelation. General Revelation is the evidence of God visible in the majesty of creation—from the human body and nature to the governing of the universe. Special Revelation, however, is God’s revealing of the way of salvation through Jesus Christ alone (both in-person and through His written Word).

In this episode, pastor Dale Partridge demonstrates how atheists are left without an excuse. Namely, they have been given sufficient evidence of the all-powerful and eternal God through the things that are made. But although General Revelation is sufficient for the evidence of God, it is not sufficient to redeem the heart, reconcile a person to God through atonement and forgiveness, and redeem their soul. For this reason Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life and nobody comes to the Father except by me.”

Scripture References

  • Romans 1:18-23

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
